Youth Player Development Pathway

6 months ago By Harry Higgs

Message from Matt Williams regarding our youth player pathway

Good Afternoon
I hope you have all enjoyed a month off and are excited to get started again soon with your age groups.
I think this is the perfect time to explain what we have planned for this season coming.
On July 4th we will be launching the new club coaching strategy, structures, and style that we want to roll out across all senior teams and down to the U14’s age group. This will give clear guidelines on session plans, calls, and styles and will include involvement from senior players and senior coaching staff.
I have been informed that some age groups are already planning for next year and that’s excellent. I love the energy but at the same time, it is vital that as a club we are connected regarding our player development. Therefore, I would like to meet your suggested coaching team and team manager from u14 to the first team so that we can discuss how everything fits together. The emphasis is on the importance of consistency and correct messaging across the club.
We have a new marketing team that will give guidance about how we communicate and market our club and this will overlap with on pitch and off pitch image. I look forward to meeting you all before the season starts to help plan and add structure to your sessions and ideas so we can have a connected club.
We have a fantastic resource that is James Worton and Harry Bayliss to add a specific focus on improving our strength and conditioning within all sessions. Within the strategy launch on July 4th we will be detailing their involvement within the junior sides. James Worton is the Junior Strength and Conditioning coach and will be working with the U16 and U14 within your session plans with a specific focus on fitness and gym work.
Olli Taylor has spent a long time on outlining/planning coach and player development sessions that will also be launched on July 4th as an attachment to the overall coaching plan. We want to have as many coaches, parents, and players at this.
Phil Worrall is our philosophy manager and will be working closely with our senior coaching team making sure the information we want to pass to our junior and mini age groups is in a format that can be applied, delivered and measured
This is set to be a very exciting year at the club trying to unite all sections to become One Club, all pulling in one direction. There are a couple of other things in the pipe line which we will make you all aware of when they turn into actioned points.
Any questions please gets in contact with me on 07762 410316.
Action point
• Meeting with U16 and U14 coaches this week coming if possible thank you
• Best Regards
Matthew Williams
